Darrell Everroad

Darrell Barb Everroad, 51, Martinsville, died at 2 p.m. June 23, 2004, at his residence.

The son of Mary Violet (Major) Wilson, Martinsville, and the late Thomas E "Hap" Wilson, he was born Sept. 5, 1944, in Martinsville. His wife, Gladys L. Rogers, whom he married Feb. 7, 1987, survives in Martinsville.

Everroad retired from General Motors Truck & Bus in 2002 after 33 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 230; current Grand Chief DeGare of the 40 & 8 Voiture and previous national Officer; V.F.W. Post 1257; Brazil Eagles Post 274; Local Order of the Moose Post 1127, where he held several offices; honorary Kentucky Colonel; UAW Local 23, and a past member of the Noon Lion’s Club.

He was a graduate of the Martinsville High School Class of 1964 and a veteran of the Army, where he served as a SP4 in Company B 2nd Battalion 152nd Infantry from June 4, 1963 to June 3,1969.

He enjoyed his family and friends, working and volunteering in the many organizations he held membership.

Other survivors include three sons, Curtis and Darrell W. Everroad both of Martinsville, and Dean Everroad, Mt. Gilead, Ohio; a daughter, Leann Everroad, Martinsville; a stepson, Michael Curtis Trackwell, Paragon; three stepdaughters, Karen Meadows and Kimberly Mahaffey, both of Martinsville, and Dianna O'Neal, Paragon; seven brothers, Delbert Everroad, Martinsville; Mark, Nyle, Lyle and Dean Wilson, all of Martinsville; Dale Everroad, Brooklyn, and Ernie Wilson, Apachee Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Vida (Everroad) Fishel, Martinsville; seven grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren, and 12 step great-grandchildren.

A stepson, Jeffery Trackwell; two brothers, David and Dennis Everroad, and one step great-grandchild also preceded him in death.

The service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. The Rev. Mike Aldridge will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in New South Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm. Sunday and from noon until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
