Kenny Frye

Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Frye, 73, a resident of Florida and previously of Martinsville, passed unexpectedly from this life on Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was one of eight sons born to the late Ray Allen and Martha Pauline (Cooper) Frye. Kenny was number four in the line-up and was born on September 7, 1945 in Lebanon, Indiana.

Kenny and his brothers were raised in Martinsville where he attended school and graduated high school with the class of 1964. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Martinsville and later transferred his membership to the Zephyrhills lodge in Florida, as well as, a member of the Laborers International Union Local #120 in Indianapolis.

On October 16, 1992 Kenny married Lori Anne (Cantwell). The two lived in Indianapolis for several years before relocating to Florida in 2011.

Kenny was a dedicated employee for Huber, Hunt & Nichols Construction Company in Indianapolis for forty years, retiring in 2003 as a construction superintendent. Retirement offered Kenny some much deserved and long-awaited time off to spend with family and friends enjoying some of his greatest past-times, including golf, poker, and most all, sports. It was not uncommon to find him on a golf course, playing poker, watching an I.U. Basketball game, New York Yankees and/or Indianapolis Colts game. He was also a dog lover, more specifically, he adored his dogs, Hoosier, Eli and Lilly.

Kenny leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly including his beloved wife and soul mate, Lori Frye of Zephyrhills, FL; son, David A. (wife, Lisa) Frye of Indianapolis; daughter, Tracy (husband, Jeff) Thompson of Speedway, IN; three grandchildren: Kelcey Thompson of California, Bryce Thompson of Indiana and Kyle Frye of Colorado; three brothers, Steve (wife, Janis) Frye, Larry (wife, Sandy) Frye and David (wife, Teresa) all of Martinsville; and countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William Ray “Jim” Frye, Melvin, Donnie and Rick Frye.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 9th from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville and from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Rev. Keenan Steinway will conduct a service celebrating Kenny’s life on Wednesday, July 10th beginning at 11:00 AM at Neal & Summers and he will be cremated following the service.
