Sheila Gray VIEW PROFILE

Sheila Elaine Gray, age 72, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday morning, September 30, after a long illness at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. She had been a patient there since April. Sheila moved to Martinsville from Lewisville/Eminence area in 1957.

She was born June 1, 1946, to Dennis Dale and Pansy Louise “Peggy” (Baugh) Gray at the old Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville. She was a 1964 graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Eminence schools prior to that. She attended Indiana University before graduating from Indiana Business College in 1965. Sheila retired from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 35 years of service there.

She was employed with the MSD of Martinsville schools for two years before retiring due to health complications. She was baptized in the First Christian Church of Martinsville by Rev. Fred Sharp and later transferred her membership and still retained at Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville in 1961. In recent years she attended the family church she grew up in, Alaska Christian Church, in Lewisville. She was also a former member of Epsilon-KKS Sorority.

When health permitted, she liked to garage sale and do things with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne (Shelli) Hazel and husband Fred of Martinsville; one brother, Keith and wife Jana Gray of Martinsville; two grandchildren, Clinton Lemieux and girlfriend Heather Manning, and Rebekah (Mattie) Lemieux of Martinsville. She leaves two nieces, Erin Gray of Fishers, and Cara Driscoll and husband Matt of Indianapolis; and one special great-nephew, Titus James Driscoll. She leaves many good friends, family and classmates.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Ora (Doc) and Cora Gray and Walter and Becky Baugh; and one baby sister, Rita Kay Gray.

At Sheila’s request there will be no calling, but the family will be having a memorial service on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Christian Church, 2010 Liberty Church Road. Kevin Short, preaching minister at Alaska Christian Church, will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the memorial service on this day. Memorial contributions can be made to Alaska Christian Church.

Those attending please dress casually and bring many memories to share that day.
