Larry was a great friend during my two years at MHS. He was a bright, funny, caring guy who pretty much took me under his wing and made me feel part of the group when my family moved to Martinsville. For someone who had already attended nine schools by that time and was certainly not at all self-assured, Larry's acceptance of a skinny little new kid, who wasn't even close to being a fellow athletic type, was exactly what I needed to get a positive new start in Martinsville. We spent a lot of time together over a two-year period and had tons of good, clean fun. I'm just sorry we didn't make the necessary arrangements to see each other more often in our adult years, and I'm especially sorry I never took the time to express to Larry how much his friendship meant to me. Perhaps my error can be a lesson to some of our classmates who may read this, while also serving as a lesson to myself. Take the time and make the effort to let others in your life know how much you appreciate what they have done for you and what they have meant to you while they are still here with you.  It will be so much better than being left with empty regrets when they have passed on.
