Jimmie Kent, 62

OCT. 12, 1946 — MARCH 15, 2009

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Jimmie Kent, 62, of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway.  Jimmie was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 1289.  He was an avid dart player for 30 years, loved to ride motorcycles and was active in charity work with multiple organizations.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge #91.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Louise Edwards Kent.

Survivors include his wife, Celia Kent; son, Chris Kent and his wife, Dawanna; grandchildren, Christian Kent, Sabastian Kent, Caden Kent, Madison Kent, and Chris Kerr, all of Chattanooga; brother, Kevin Kent and his wife, Debbie of Martinsville, IN.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.  Thursday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating.

Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
