Minnie Richardson (Finchum)

Minnie Viola (Richardson) Finchum, born on January 6, 1946, joined the Lord on May 29, 2023, while surrounded by her children, Jeff and Cheryl.

Minnie graduated from Martinsville High School in 1964. She married the love of her life, Donald Eugene “Gene” Finchum, on April 22, 1966. Minnie worked most of her career at the Morgan County Courthouse before retiring in 2011.

Minnie is best remembered for her love of gardening and quilting. She enjoyed traveling and visited many states throughout her lifetime. Minnie was excited to be a Meemaw to Briella and in her younger years, Minnie could be found enjoying family time with camping, 4H activities, and especially Square Dancing with Gene. Minnie was a quiet person, but she had a strong faith and was devoted and loyal to her lifelong circle of friends, of whom she thought of as family.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; parents David Wayne Richardson and Roxie (Stevens) Richardson Maywhere; brothers Joseph Richardson, Richard Maywhere; many other beloved family members.

She is survived by her children Jeff Finchum of Eminence, Cheryl Diane Finchum of Indianapolis; her cherished fur babies, Tom and Jeri.

Visitation is 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Costin Funeral Chapel. Services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jody England officiating.

Burial will be at Olive Christian Church Cemetery in Paragon.
