In Memory

Jim Galyan

Mooresville – James K. Galyan, 76, passed away on June 3rd, 2022, at his home in Brooklyn, Indiana. He passed in peace with his loving daughters close to him.

Born on March 4th, 1946, to Carl and Clara Galyan in Martinsville, Indiana, James attended Martinsville High School where he graduated in 1964. A year later he married the love of his life, Patricia Dillender, and they remained together until her passing in 2008.

James worked as a machinist, operator, and over-all jack of all trades for Navistar engine plant and foundry for forty-three years. He retired in 2008 to spend more time with his family and friends.

James, an outdoorsman at heart, spent many years camping and fishing. He would mushroom hunt while in the forests to take back and cook with his family. James also enjoyed working with his hands, creating cabinets, counters, and windchimes for his family. They often compared him, due to his tinkering, to Christopher Lloyd’s character Dr. Emmett Brown, from his favorite movies, The Back to the Future series.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Clara (Powell) Galyan, and his wife Patricia Galyan.

He is survived by his daughters Marilee Hamilton (Eddie), Heather Galyan; son Shad Galyan (Toni), 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather to receive visitors on Thursday, June 9th from 3 – 5 pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Services. Memorial services follow at 5 pm.
