Virginia Hawkins (Holsapple)

Virginia Jean “Jeanie” Holsapple, 72, of Martinsville, passed from this life on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. She was born on June 11, 1946 in Morgan County to the late Carl W. Hawkins and Ruth Hacker.

A lifelong Morgan County resident, she graduated from Martinsville High School and raised her family locally. She worked many years as a home health aide and waitressed at the former Waffle House in Martinsville. Of Christian faith, Virginia was a longtime member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Martinsville.

Virginia enjoyed cooking, canning, and sewing. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. She was a loving mother and grandma with a personality full of spunk and sass.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends including her daughters, Joni Neely of Martinsville, Debbie Carter, and Paula Megl all of Martinsville; sons, Allen (wife, Connie) Percifield of Bloomington, David (wife, Kelley) Percifield of Martinsville, and Michael Percifield of Martinsville; grandchildren, Kara, Kaylee, Kourtney, Sarah, Bryce, Carley, Krissy, Katie, Brianna, Cassidy, and Corey and great grandchildren, Nora, Paizlee, Olivia, and Lucie.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 7th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, February 8th from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm in the chapel at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A funeral service celebrating Virginia’s life will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 8th with Phil Deckard officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
