Robert Harlan Ard, 69

SMITHS GROVE - Robert Harlan Ard went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday,

September 2 at 11:00 am. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl Ard and Ada Staples Ard and his grandmother, Molly Troxel.

He was a Deacon at Greenwood Park Church of Christ and was in charge of the Food Pantry there for 20 years. He helped many families in need. He also made sure that the cancer treatment departments in all hospitals had snacks to offer patients.

Mr. Ard worked for Supervalue Inc. for 20 years as a merchandiser. He also worked for Lowes Department Store for many years where people called him "Mr. Lowe's." After retirement, he worked part time for RSI Grocery Division.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wannetta Martin Ard; two daughters, Stephanie Ettinger (Jim), of Smiths Grove, KY, Heather Paschal (Jon) of Alvaton, KY; three grandchildren, Robbie, Zachary and Willow; three sisters, Jo Vance, Westminster, MD, Jackie (Keith) Drake Mooresville, IN, and Priscella (Jim) Self, Summerville SC; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 pm Tuesday, Sept. 6, and from 9 -11 am Wednesday, Sept 7 at the JC Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday in the Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in the Bowling Green Gardens.
