Glen Drake

Mr. M. Glen Drake , age 65, of Bennington, Indiana, entered this life on July 15, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Clifton & Annabelle Drake, both of whom preceded him in death.  He was raised in Martinsville, Indiana, & was a 1964 graduate of Martinsville High School.  Glen was inducted into the United States Army on January 27, 1966, in Martinsville, Indiana, rising to the rank of Specialist 4, & was honorably discharged & transferred to the reserves on January 26 1968.  He received the Marksman Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Combat Medal with Device, the Vietnam Service Medal & the O/S Bars & was honorably discharged from the reserves on January 26, 1972.  He was united in marriage on November 12, 1988, in Switzerland County, Indiana, to Linda & they have enjoyed the past 23 years of marriage together.  Glen was employed for 28 years with Allis & Gas Turbine as an aircraft Machinist & for 2 1/2 years with Rolls Royce in Indianapolis, IN.  He also owned & operated the D&D Woodspoon in Bennington Indiana, retiring in 1996.  He was a formerly attended the Bennington United Methodist Church & was a member of the Local #933 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Slawson Cemetery.  Glen & Linda have resided in the Bennington Community since 1987.  Glen will be remembered for his love of woodworking, hunting & shooting sporting clays.  Glen died at 4:30 pm Monday March 5, 2012, at his residence in Bennington, IN.

Glen will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Linda Drake of Bennington, IN; his son: Kevin Drake of Martinsville, IN; Darrin Atwood of IN; Dawson Atwood of Indianapolis, IN; his grandson: Dakota Atwood of Indianapolis, IN; his sisters: Lorraine Alle of Martinsville, IN; Faye Hemphill of Indianapolis, IN; his brother: Keith Drake of Martinsville, IN; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifton & Annabelle Drake; his son: Troy Atwood; his daughter: Da'Lynn C. Atwood.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 11:00 AM, by Chaplain Debby Allen, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.  Interment will follow in the Slawson Cemetery, Bennington, Indiana.

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Military rites will be conducted by the honor guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396.

Memorial contributions may be made to Slawson Cemetery.  Cards are available at the funeral home.
