In Memory

Sandra Kinder (Kennedy)

Sandra "Sandi" Kennedy, 75, of Edgewater, beloved mother, sister, life partner, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Friday, January 28.

Born Sandra Elaine Kinder in 1946 to Max D. and Mary Ruth Kinder of Brooklyn, Indiana, Sandra (pronounced "Sondra") became "Sandi" in her early teen years. Only her two younger brothers and a few aunts and uncles continued to call her by her given name.

Sandi grew up in central Indiana, graduating with honors from Martinsville High School in 1964.  She later expanded her education by attending business college. After moving to Florida in the late 1960's she built a long and successful career as a comptroller and business manager for several auto dealerships in the West Palm Beach, Titusville and New Smyrna areas. Sandi married early in her late teens and had two children, Lori and Scott. After moving to the Edgewater area in the mid 1970's, she found the first true love of her life and married George Kennedy in 1978. Following George's tragic death in 1985, Sandi found her second true love in 1986 with Gary Lamb, Sr. and they shared a life together for the remainder of her life.

Known for her lively and fun-loving spirit, Sandi gathered friends wherever she went and maintained strong relationships with many from her earliest years. The adventures she had as a teenager sometimes got them into trouble (her suggestion that the Beatles were being housed in a facility in Martinsville while touring caused a near riot and hot her grounded for two weeks), but they were always a great fun for all who participated with her. As an adult, she always made sure that everyone was having a part of the activities and having a great time.

Sandi enjoyed reading, traveling, going on cruises and vacations, reconnecting with old chums at high school reunions, spending time on the water, 'retail therapy' with her daughter, and joining friends for a meal at favorite locations. Most of all, she treasured the time she spent with Gary and the expanded family they shared.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and her brother Bob (Carol). She is survived by Gary, her brother Michael (Jerri) Kinder of Zionsville IN, daughter Lori (Dennis) Conley, son Scott (Jackie) Kennedy, step-son Gary (Laura) Lamb, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and half brother Don (Rita) Kinder, and a multitude of friends in Florida and Indiana.

Funeral Service will be 7:00 p.m. Monday January 31, 2022 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with The Reverend Brian Melanson officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until service time also at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.settlewilderfuneralhome.com.
