Terry Owens

Terrance Eugene “Terry” Owens, 77, a longtime Morgan County resident, passed from his earthly life on Monday, November 21, 2022, at his residence with his loved ones by his side. His life began on Sunday, June 24, 1945, in Bloomington, Indiana when he was born to the late Melvin and Mildred (Martin) Owens.

Mr. Owens formerly worked alongside his father at the family sawmill on Hinson Road in Morgan County and later worked for Hopkins Sand & Gravel. He retired from Rogers Group where he was a mechanic. In his spare time, he enjoyed mechanical work, fixing and tinkering with most anything, hunting, fishing, and camping.

He served his country honorably while serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Local 841 Operators Union and the VFW Post #1257.

He leaves behind a host of loving family including his wife, Kathy (Harrington) Owens of Martinsville, whom he married January 3, 1970. He also leaves behind three sons, James (wife, Tiffany) Owens of Vine Grove, Kentucky, and Jeff (wife, Barb) and Jeremy (wife, Kerrie) Owens all of Martinsville; one sister, Sandy Rowland of Greenwood, Indiana; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 12:00-2:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center in Martinsville. A service celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, immediately following the visitation. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
