Virginia Wigal (Carmichael)

Virginia L. “Ginny” Carmichael of Paragon, IN, passed from this life on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.  She was born July 12, 1945 in Martinsville, IN to the late Claude I. and Cora (Warthen) Wigal.

She was a lifetime Morgan County resident and a graduate of Martinsville High School with the Class of 1964. She was crowned Paragon Homecoming Queen in 1963. Ginny enjoyed cooking, gardening, and bowling and she was an avid animal lover.  She especially enjoyed visits with her friends and overall just had a love for people.

She worked for several years for RCA in Bloomington, IN and the former Heritage House Convalescent Center in Martinsville.  Most of her life she was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Martinsville.

She married James Edward Carmichael on October 24, 1984; he survives and lives in Paragon, IN.  She also leaves behind many other friends and family including three brothers, Arthur Wigal (wife, Gin) and James Wigal (wife, Lana) all of Martinsville and John Wigal (wife, Susie) of Paragon, IN; four sisters, Bertha Bryant of Martinsville, Helen Austin of Beech Grove, IN and Lucille Carroll and Violet Stevenson of Indianapolis, IN; one step-son, Rick Carmichael of Mooresville, IN; one step daughter, Kathy Crowell of CA; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Her only child and the love of her life, Robin K. Vickery, preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dennis Wigal.

Family & friends may visit on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center.  A service celebrating Mrs. Carmichael’s life will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Friendship Park Cemetery.
